Buying a home in Portland, OR? Use Britt Bragg to help you Buy!
Buying a home in Portland, Oregon is very exciting, but it can also feel like a lot to figure out. This is especially true if you’re new to Oregon entirely or the Portland Metro area and/or you’re already a local who is considering a neighborhood you don’t know well! My job as your Realtor is to make the process feel less overwhelming and much more manageable. We’ll start by talking through what you’re looking for, your budget, your timing, and the neighborhoods that might make sense for your lifestyle. You know, the details! From there, I’ll help you get prepared to buy, including connecting you with trusted lending and home inspection resources, setting realistic expectations, and making sure you understand how buyer representation works in Oregon. The more informed you are at the beginning, the more confident you’ll feel when the right house comes along.
Once we know what you’re looking for, the really fun part begins: getting out and exploring Portland real estate! This is where having a truly local Realtor can make a meaningful difference. I’m a lifelong Oregonian and have spent 16 years helping people buy and sell throughout the Portland Metropolitan area. I’ve worked with buyers in cities all over Portland-Metro including Beaverton, Happy Valley, Milwaukie, Lake Oswego, etc. Neighborhoods in Portland varying from Sellwood-Moreland, Eastmoreland and Garthwick to the West Hills, Irvington, Alberta Arts, St. Johns, Division-Clinton, Brooklyn and beyond. I don’t just want to show you houses—I want to help you understand the differences between neighborhoods, streets and pockets of the city. What does it feel like to live there? How does one neighborhood compare to another? Which neighborhood do I want to spend Saturday mornings in? I'm here for that kind of more personal stuff—what you might love about a location that doesn’t immediately show up on a listing sheet or internet search! One of my first-time buyer clients described working with me as having someone who “helped me solidify my idea of what I was looking for” while talking through the pros and cons of different locations. That is exactly the kind of guidance I strive to provide all of my clients.
When we find the right property, I’ll help you evaluate it carefully and put together a thoughtful offer. We’ll look at comparable sales, the current Portland housing market, the condition and location of the home, and the terms that make sense for your particular situation. When your offer is accepted, I’ll stay closely involved through inspections, negotiations, appraisal, financing, paperwork and closing. Oregon has specific requirements surrounding buyer representation, and written buyer representation agreements are now part of the residential home-buying process, so I make a point of throughly explaining what you are signing and why—not simply handing you a stack of paperwork. I am always available for your questions. My goal is for you to feel informed and confident with each step as we proceed. As another longtime client put it, I bring “integrity, honesty, and full communication” to the process. Those are not just nice words to me; they are the standard I try to bring to every transaction.
Whether you are purchasing your first Portland home, moving up into a larger property, relocating to Oregon, downsizing or looking for a special high-end home, experience matters. Over the years I’ve represented buyers across a wide range of price points and throughout the Portland Metro area, giving me a perspective that goes well beyond one neighborhood or one type of property. I’ve helped first-time buyers, worked with families making complicated moves, out-of-state buyers hone in on Portland properties and represented clients searching for distinctive luxury properties—including a recent off-market home in Portland’s Northwest Hills that my clients were able to view before it was publicly available. (It is a stunner.)
If you’re searching for a Portland Oregon Realtor who knows the city, understands the nuances of its neighborhoods, and will take the time to guide you through every step, I’d really enjoy being your go-to resource. Buying a home is a big decision. You should have someone beside you who knows the market, knows the process, and genuinely cares about getting it right!
