A Morning at the Moreland: Community, Kids, and The Lorax in Sellwood, Portland
There’s something really special about seeing a historic theater filled with families, laughter, and the smell of fresh popcorn—and that’s exactly what we had on the morning of March 21st at the Moreland Theatre in Sellwood, one of Portland’s most beloved and family-friendly neighborhoods.
I had the absolute joy of hosting a private showing of The Lorax, a timeless, family-friendly story with a meaningful environmental message. What made it even more memorable wasn’t just the movie—it was the people. Past clients, future clients, friends, family, and even a few new faces I hadn’t yet had the pleasure of meeting all came together for a shared experience. Seeing so many kids—some having their very first movie theater outing—made it feel extra special and a perfect example of the kind of community-focused events that make living in Sellwood, Portland so unique.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a true movie morning without the classics: warm, salty popcorn, excited chatter, and that buzz of anticipation before the lights dim. It was one of those moments that reminded me why I love being so connected to the Sellwood community and why I prioritize hosting local, family-friendly events in Portland whenever I can. (Get on the email list and stay tuned, there’s more to come!)
I kicked things off with a quick welcome (and yes, I’ll admit… I stumbled through it a bit thanks to a small sound hiccup—but we rolled with it!). What I meant to say—and what I hope everyone felt—is just how grateful I am. Grateful for the clients who have trusted me to help them navigate buying and selling homes across Sellwood, Eastmoreland, and all of the greater Portland metro area, and grateful for the opportunity to meet and connect with new people as well.
At the heart of my business are relationships. The trust, support, and referrals I receive mean everything to me, and I never take that lightly. While I’m deeply rooted in the Sellwood community, I also serve clients throughout the Portland tri-county area, including Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties, helping buyers and sellers successfully navigate every stage of the real estate process.
Whether you’ve worked with me before or not, I truly appreciate being part of this community and having the chance to show up in ways that go beyond real estate. Hosting events like this is just one of the ways I stay connected and continue building lasting relationships with the people who make Portland such a special place to live.
And honestly… with a turnout like this, I’m already thinking we might need to do it again—maybe a fun family-friendly Halloween event in Sellwood this fall.
Thank you again to everyone who came out, brought their families, and made the morning so memorable. Events like this are a reminder that home isn’t just about where you live—it’s about the community you build around you.
