Portland Realtor Britt Bragg Talks Portland Flea, Local Makers & Community

Q: What does a realtor have to do with the Portland Flea?
A: Honestly? A lot.

I love Portland, I love homes, and I love the people who make this city interesting. The Portland Flea brings all three of those things together in one place.

Q: Why the Portland Flea?
A: Because I love local artists, makers, collectors and small businesses — and I love seeing what they create.

There is something pretty special about wandering through the Flea and finding a piece of art, furniture, a vintage treasure, or home good that you didn't know you needed until you saw it.

Q: So this is really about houses?
A: Well…kind of!

As a Portland Realtor, I spend a lot of time in and talking about peoples homes. I think what makes a home special goes way beyond the four walls. It's the various art on the walls, the furniture you collect, the weird little vintage finds tucked around, the food your family makes in the kitchen and the accumulation of all the local things that make a space feel like you.

The Flea is full of those things! It’s also an incredible place to see some fabulous Portland style in action. The dog watching is also top tier, I love to bring Avi dog of course.

Q: What can people expect to find?
A: Extraordinary homewares and goods, vintage pieces, art, handmade treasures and plenty of things that will make you want to redecorate a room. Treats, food and drink, candles, jewelry, ceramics, apothecary items, plants and oh so much more.

Q: What is your greatest Portland Flea find?

A: Oh wow, I’ve collected so many treasures over the years. Some of my most beloved items though are locally made ceramics. Bowls, platters, vases etc. and it’s tough for me to pass up an ornate vintage brass piece. I enjoy checking out the rings and beeswax candles as well.

Q: What's in it for the first 200 guests?
A: A free custom Britt Bragg + Portland Flea tote bag!

The first 200 guests will receive one, courtesy of yours truly. A good tote bag is a Portland necessity and it will be great for everything from using at the Flea, to the farmers market… even trick or treating. Speaking of, children are always welcome! This month I’ll have a little something for them too. The October event is a great chance to rock costumes as well.

Q: Why does supporting local makers matter to you?
A: Because the vibrancy of this city comes from its people.

Portland is better, more interesting and more alive because there are exceptional people here who choose to make art, build businesses, create beautiful things and share their work with the rest of us.

I love being part of that community and supporting in the ways I can.

Q: And that's why a realtor is the main event sponsor?
A: Exactly.

I feel that Real estate is about so much more than buying and selling houses. It's about neighborhoods, businesses, community, architecture, style, design and the people who make a place worth calling home.

I feel incredibly lucky to live and work in a city I love — and sponsoring the October Portland Flea is one way I choose to support the people and creativity that make Portland, well…Portland.

So please come shop, wander, discover something great and say hello.

I'll see you at the Flea!
